upgrading Windows without losing e-mails

How can I ensure that e-mails, both recent and saved, are not lost when upgrading Windows on my laptop?  The upgrade is necessary to install newer apps.

Re: upgrading Windows without losing e-mails

Your Comcast email account is a webpage that you access with a browser.  Changing or updating the operating system on your computer would have no effect on that.  It's not part of the computer unless you have it enabled in a desktop email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Opera or some other.  But the actual account is with Comcast.  It's the same as if you were talking about an email account with Yahoo or Gmail or something.
