I cannot see your reply to original post, but I am having the same exact issue - attempts to SEND email results in posting to Outlook and a error message indicating mail was unable to connect to server - see below. I've tried several different setting configurations to correct, but no luck.
Mail was unable to connect to server “imap.comcast.net” using SSL on the default ports.
Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
Please copy/ paste the entire error message in your reply for review.
Are you using POP servers, or IMAP servers?
Please post the email settings you have set up now.

Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version?
Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
Details of the problem you are having.
