IMAP will not use folders created in Outlook for and stored in the PST folder. IMAP only deals with the folders on the Xfinity email server and not previously downloaded pop mail that was deleted off the server.
When you switched to IMAP Outlook created a new PST file which is only used to store calendar and contacts. Email is not stored locally with IMAP
I just switched my email (outlook 2013) over to IMAP from POP. Now, all the emails in the folders I created in outook are disappearing. How do I get the folders to sync? It looks like it started to sync up, and now not only is it not syncing, emails are disappearing from my computer.
Go to your settings.
change incoming server to IMAP.comcast.net
leave outgoing server as SMTP.comcast.net
Change from POP to IMAP
Change your incoming Port to 993 with SSL on
Leave your outgoing Port at 465 with SSL ON
CLICK the box which says, "THIS SERVER REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION.
DO NOT click SPA (secure password authentication)
