Which router do you have?
Have you connected with an Ethernet cable to test the speeds?
Which site are you tesing on?
Here's are a couple that are reliable.
http://speedsmart.net/ - this one's pretty lightweight and scores a bit slower than actual but, still a good ballpark
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest - this one is pretty consistent
Looks like it's probably related to the Puma issue. Pretty sure the modem firmware hasn't been upgraded to get rid of the issue either. I would probably say swapping it for something else or purchasing your own. There's 3 D3.1 models out there and they're all similarly priced around $160. I went with the MB8600 and haven't had any issues with gig on it directly connected at least. When testing through my newly replaced router I was having speed issues topping out at 250M.
When you login to your account under services is it still showing Gig? I still don't know why there hasn't been a push to get rid of the P6 equipment due to the issues. It may be sporadic but, 1/4 of your speed is insane considering you're paying for the modem that's supposed to be the most compliant device for the service.
Looks like it's probably related to the Puma issue. .
FWIW, the Puma 6 chipset issue is related to packet loss / excess latency / jitter, not necessarily achievable speeds.
I thought the TG3482G used the Puma 7 chipset.
gigabit service, but have only managed to get close to 250mbps down. Using comcast modem / router - what's the deal?
That doesnt sound right on ethernet.. with that modem.. Can you post your signals to the forum.. Has it alwasy been this way?
I was told im required to use the supplied router with this service, due to it being so new and the limited number of "Compatible routers"
It does say gigabit in my account. I see no options to update the firmware in the web panel.
Hi shaep, thank you for posting the update/fix to your issue and glad you are achieving the proper Gig speeds. Please let us know if there is anything else we could assist with in the future.
