Wireless internet constantly awful

We have been loyal comcast customers for several years and  I am honestly fed up. The wifi is always slow even for the simplest things. We have had technicians come to the house and still doesn't improve. Please give me some good advice on the issue that works. I am about ready to change providers.

Are direct hardwired connections also "slow" ?
