I've owned my Arris SB6141 for years and with the speed increase to 150/5 on my plan, I'm wondering if its time to upgrade my modem. I'm getting in the area of 175-178 down and 6 up with the current modem. Since the SB6183 has 16 bonded channels for downstream, I'm curious if it would improve the speed further. From the reviews I've seen on the SB6190, it appears the Puma chipset is problematic so it seems the 6183 is a better choice IF it makes sense to upgrade. Thanks.
The SB6141 should handle your speed tier just fine. The speeds you are seeing are about the max you'll see on your speed tier, so I don't see any benefit for you to upgrade.
OK thanks..I sort of thought that, but wanted to make sure that the extra 8 downstream channels on the 6183 wouldn't change things much. I appreciate the reply
