Two modems, one residence, too much distance for decent WIFI repeater?

 Hello,

I'm researching solutions for a client who has a guest apartment above his garage that his son uses when he visits.

The two buildings are about 150 ft from one another.  Installing ethernet would be a huge pain.

We tried the WIFI repeater route using two UAP-AC-PROs - worked for a while but is spotty and leaves a lot to be desired regarding speed.

We tried installing a MoCA adapter, but there is an amplifier below the house that filters MoCA at its input, preventing the MoCA signal from reaching the apartment/garage.

Would it be possible to have two modems on one account, one for each building?

Thanks!

If it's possible for you, consider using an independent MoCa set up. Instead of using MoCa from the gateway, use two adapters and set it up like this gateway>ethernet>adapter>coax>adapter>ethernet.

That doesn't answer OP's question, and their post asserts that they tried to go that route already.

Many systems will not allow two modems to be used at one address. It's best to call in to see what the local policy is. Even if they do allow it you will need to pay for two accounts (twice what you are paying for HSI now). AFAIK, the second building would need to have a street address.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. There is more than one way to configure MoCA. If OP configures it like I said, it's an independent set up and would not have the same issues as he did initially.

Do you think your answer about MoCA would be more relevant to this question?
