Thanks this works great but I did have to refresh my email window before it took effect.

It showed the little triangle but wouldn't sort until I refreshed.

Using Windows 8.1 and IE 11.

This has been frustrating me for some time until I found this thread.

That "View" thingy can change a lot of things.  It makes it harder to try and help someone troubleshoot something when they are not looking at the same thing you are.  I don't know how people survived in these forums before we had screen shots I tell you.  And that "Group by" option at the bottom of the sub-menu is interesting.  You should play around with it.  I have no use for it but still----it's there.

Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)

Carole's example shows how it looks with the View set to have the reading pane at the bottom of your screen, or turned off.  (assuming you are in the Full version of XC) However, if you have the pane set to the right, like I usually do, it looks different than that.  If you are in right-pane view, you should see "Sort by Date" in that grey bar.  Right click in the blank space to the right of that, and you should see this------------

You can sort by clicking on From-Subject-Date.

 

The View option is not new, has been there for a very long time now.

Trouble sorting email by sender. Problem solved!

I contacted comcast tech support both consumer and business to no avail. The simple answer is best. It always used to sort by sender  then they updated the interface adding new features such as view by conversation. Go to view my inbox click on view above and far right of the messages and choose "by message". 

Now it makes sense that you can't sort by sender if there are multiple different senders in a thread.  Please let the tech department know how to address this simple but frustrating issue.
