Thermostat will not connect to wifi, I'm told I need seperate ssid for 2.4Ghz. and 5Ghz

I have a new thermostat that will only run on 2.4Ghz. My modem/router is an Arris TG1682G dual band.  I was told i need to seperate the ssid for each and then I should be able to connect the thermost. I don't know much about this. Help please.

You have to have a separate SSID name for 2.4 and 5.0.  See if this helps:
