The setting for the ethernet can't be set (at least by the user).  There are no options on the config page.  That page doesn't even show anything about the actual connection on the ethernet port.

Maybe not on the router but it can on the computer's operating system / network adapter settings.

I tried a reset last night.  Didn't make a difference.

Meh.... I'd try a hard reset on the TP and if it's not resolved then a replacement would be ideal.  Firmware shouldn't be affecting your port speed.

Any idea if the ethernet port speed (100 vs auto negotiate) is something that Comcast controls?

This should be toggle-able by the end user, not Comcast.

I contacted TP-Link support and they had no idea.  They kept asking me if I was connecting it wrong, with a bad cable, laptop not set to auto negotiate... etc.

I plugged in the same cable to my laptop to my older Motorola modem and the laptop switched to gigabit.

This tells me everything is fine downstream so the cable modem is the bottleneck.

Hmmm. Perhaps the ethernet port or the port negotiation circuitry on the modem is malfunctioning ??

yes and when I plug in my laptop using the same cable to anything else on in my house, it connects a full speed.  The only connection that is 100 is to the cable modem.

If it isn't, have you tried using a cat 5e or cat 6 ethernet cable ?

I have a TPLink   TC-7620

This has a Gigabit ethernet port but I only connect at 100.

I've tried connecting through a router and directly with a laptop.  Each only connects at 100

It has the following config      d11_m_tc7620_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm

The admin page doesn't give the option to set a static speed so I can't force it.

My laptop detects 1000 if I connect to anything other than my cable modem.

any ideas?

thanks
