Are they all bad? Or is it a chance of the draw... a bad one?

Re: SB6190

All of the 6190's have the same Puma 6 chipset issue. The variable would be whether or not a firmware fix has been applied.

Re: SB6190

So if I were to get one of these.... my isp (Comcast) would apply the firmware?

Re: SB6190

I don't believe that the final firmware fix has yet been coded. A firmware patch was applied a while back that was supposed to fix it but reports were still coming in that it actually had not.

Some info;

You can Google for more. It seems that the manufacturers are being very hush hush about the issue possibly due to pending lawsuits.

Best advice is to steer clear of the 6190 (and other Puma 6 chipset based devices) for now.

Re: SB6190

I understand. When this fix does come out tho, it will be installed by the isp. In my case Comcast. Correct?

Re: SB6190

All cable modem's firmware loads are updated via the ISP's system.

A fix may not be possible. Just sayin'..
