Returning an attachment with my signature and date

I received a document as a email attachment which I need to sign and date and return.  How do I perform this task?

I take it there are no instructions with it.

Print the document.  Sign and date it.  Scan it on your printer and save it as a document or as a PDF file.  Attach the file to an email, or a reply email, and send.
