Is there any way to clear your inbox and trash folder when you discover(All of A SUDDEN) your email has messages all the way back to 2015?

For either the Inbox or Trash folders, click on it to select it, then click on the "hamburger" icon that appears to the right of it.  You will see a menu with one of the choices being "Delete all messages".  You can get to the same menu by right-clicking on the folder.  But by default, your Trash folder should only go back two weeks.
