Are you entering the email address using the address book, or are you typing it in?

Comcast is sending you the DSN (Delivery Status Notification), but the problem is that Gmail is refusing to accept the email. It's a temporary error so Comcast will keep trying to deliver it for 3 days. But only Gmail know for sure why they're not accepting it. It could be about some problems at Gmail too.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

I type the first letter of the recipients name and then hit enter because auto-complete finishes it for me. This isn't about a bad email address, this is a problem with Comcasts SMTP servers.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

I have also had bad delays with email from Comcast's SMTP to gmail.  Here is one example, which shows a 20-hour delay in the Comcast-to-gmail handoff.  During that delay, Comcast did send me two delay notices (Status 4.1.1).

Eventually it appeared, with the below headers.  I added a [NOTE] on the header where the delay appears.  Is this perhaps due to Comcast's server (qmta03.westchester.pa.mail.comcast.net) appearing on a spam blacklist (see http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=blacklist%3a76.96.62.32  ) ??

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

All- I have notifed the Administrator about this problem with Gmail email addresses. I doubt he will see it until Monday though.

At this point it is hard to tell if this is an issue on the Comcast side or Gmail side.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

We are having the same problem.  Many bounces and delays to various gmail addresses.

Seems to be the same comcast west chester servers as the original reporter of the issue.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

As of yesterday, this issue should be resolved.  Sorry for the lack of communication on this one, but it took a while to track down.  If folks see this pop up as a trend (occasional bounces do occur after all), please let us know.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

I'm getting weird Gmail delays too the last day or so (Windows Live Mail, same message content, works fine with yahoo, hotmail and other addresses fine), but it will not go through to gmail right away.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

I have been getting the following message for about three to four days now. The time will vary. Interesting thing is that I do not know the party with this gmail address. How do I stop this message and clear it out of the system? There is an attachment with the message, which I cannot open.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

As of today, 2/2/13, I am still getting some email sent to gmail addresses bouncing back as undeliverable.  It is happening with some, but not all mail sent to gmail.  This began 1/31/13 after the comcast email outage.  I am in Portland, OR.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

I have many of these errors. All of them seem to be coming from the comcast server:

qmta01.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

Checking on this email blacklist site:

http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=blacklist%3a76.96.30.16

The comcast mail server at IP 76.96.30.16 is blacklisted.

Re: Gmail Bouncing Emails from Specifications

If you are having trouble sending e-mails to metrocast.net, it's not COMCAST, it's metrocast.  Someone from there has been sending volumes of spam, so COMCAST wo't process it.  Interestingly enough, it seems to be a sporatic problem, not every metrocast email bounces.
