Re: POP3 or IMAP

Also note that you may have to choose TLS instead of SSL from the outgoing mail server drop-down. I had to do this when setting up my phone.  (Got the TLS-hint from the Outlook 2013 setup page)

Re: POP3 or IMAP

Thank you for that link and correction.

I also note that you no longer need to ask Comcast for IMAP. It should just be a choice.

Settings are:

Incoming server: imap.comcast.net

Incoming port: 993 with SSL ON

Outgoing server: smtp.comcast.net

Outgoing port: 587 with SSL ON

Make sure authentication is ON

Re: POP3 or IMAP

According to

    http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email/

the recommended outgoing server port is 587.

You can ask Comcast to make your email IMAP by registering at

https://xcsignup.comcast.net/onboardingapps/imap

I believe these are the settings once you receive confirmation that your IMAP mail is set up:

Incoming server: imap.comcast.net

Incoming port: 993 with SSL ON

Outgoing server: smtp.comcast.net

Outgoing port: 465 with SSL ON

Make sure authentication is ON
