I just signed up for the basic $25/month internet account a few weeks ago with the intention of only ever connecting to the hotspot that is available where I live. My account worked fine for a couple of weeks on the hotspot but now does not. I have been told it is because I must connect a modem and activate the account.
So, I have wasted a couple of hours on the phone getting transferred from person to person with no resolution except get a modem to activate.
Is there any way around this? If not, is there a cheap model of modem that you could recmmend that I could just buy?
Thanks for your help
I think you do indeed need to have an active modem, they don't want to be in the position of charging you for services you don't have. Probably the least expensive modem out there is the Motorola 6121. You can probably find even cheaper ones on eBay, but used/reconditioned modems are always a risk and probably not worth the hassle.
Is just purchasing a WiFi pass an option for you? http://wifi.xfinity.com/
