Recently upgraded equipment at the recommendation of a popup on my web browser one day. Now since then, everyday I am greeted with a browser message that I must re-activate the modem/router for it to work, or I get 'unsafe' https everytime I try to go to any of my bookmarks. I have called Comcast for assistance to which i was constantly told to get on my wifi and test it on my laptop and phone, only to repeatedly tell them that I was on a desktop computer that was wired into a router that is then connected to the comcast equipment. (we have multiple desktop computers in the household that all run CAT-5 to the LinkSys Router) Then I was informed that I must activate thru my other router, but when I asked how to do it, they just said again that I must "activate thru my router"... Ok, I get it, its not your equipment...but this was the same exact setup I had before on the older equipement with no issue...so why this issue now? Incidentally, i tried simply hooking up the closest computer to the comcast equipment, bypassing our personal router entirely...same problem. *cheers* (edited cause it wasn't intented to sound hostile)
Sounds like they don't have your modem on your account correctly.
I've asked a Comcast employee to help you. You should expect a reply in this thread.
Hi, Firebat48 - As our expert Nerdburg mentioned, it sounds like a provisioning issue. Could you please send me a private message and include your full name and account holder's name? Click on my name ComcastElla, then click Send a message.
