I'd recommend something with at least 16 downstream channels. The Arris SB6183 is a pretty good deal right now. Routers are the heart of your network, so look for the best one you can afford. Asus and Netgear make some very decent routers. And yes, you should be able to get what you need in the ~$200 range.

My 24-month contract with Xfinity Internet ends soon. I am looking into purchasing a modem / router outright, rather than renting the equipment from Comcast.
Could I please get forum members' opinions/recommendations on modems and routers that work well with Comcast Internet. I am looking at the 60 or 150 mbps plans. Is less than $200 total for both a reasonable expectation?
