McAfee Folder Scan

When conducting a virus scan against a folder with six files, McAfee output statistics showed all 0's. For example, a folder containing 6 files showed 0 files scanned.
McAfee's Virtual Technician showed no software problems. McAfee tech support told me to uninstall McAfee and then reinstall it. Still I had the same problem. Output should have
shown 6 files scanned with related virus information. Note: this only happens when a manual scan is done against a folder or file that I recently downloaded from the internet or email. It does not happen when a virus scan is being done on an entire harddrive.

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has experienced the same problem or could provide a suggestion or two.  Without knowing how many files were scanned I don't know for sure if that folder or files contained a virus.

Thanks for the help !
