Mail "stuck" in outbox, receiving error message

Hi,
Running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail 2011. I am receiving mail OK, but I can't send. my mail is "stuck" in outbox. I get the following message:

The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

Went to local computer store, they advised me to try Comcast Forums.

Help?

Hello,

Comcast is not using port 25. Please follow the following link and make the changes.

Re: Mail "stuck" in outbox, receiving error message

I am having the same problem, beginning late 3/12. I use M2 email client (Opera). Originally, I got a message saying my username/password cound not authenticate. I have tried the settings in the posts here, and now I get no errors, but my outgoing mail is stuck. My comcast incoming mail does not authenticate either, but since I have an alternate POP mail account, I never noticed that before. I set SMTP to port 587 and checked the TLS box.

My default ports are 25, 587 and 465.  This button is filled.  I still cannot send emails. Help

You didn't provide any details...
Are you using XfinityConnect or an email client? Be specific what you use, including which version.

Yiu cannot use Port 25 anymore for SMTP.

Re: Mail "stuck" in outbox, receiving error message

I have tried changing the incoming and outgoing server settings as proscribed and my mail is still stuck

in the outbox.  I have checked the boxes as required.  Are there any other things that may be needed?

For anyone who is still having issues after changing ports, I figured out that my problem was antivirus outgoing mail scanner. Disabled the module & mailed sailed right through.

Re: Mail "stuck" in outbox, receiving error message

I am getting the following message.  I have tried changing the STP, but that is not working.

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'Re: Fwd: Convention Highlights *Cheat Sheet*' Server: 'smtp.comcast.net' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E Protocol: SMTP Port: 25 Secure(SSL): No Socket Error: 10013

Can someone help me.  The messages won't send and are still stuck in the outbox.

Which email client and which version are you using please?

If you click on this clickable link it will show a post with blue links to configuring most email clients too.

How many emails do you have in the Outbox now?

Which Ports do you have set up now?  I can see from the error message you have Port 25 for SMTP (Outgoing) which has now been blocked.

Post back,

CC
