Did you have a specific question about using the email?  If you don't want to use the UI, you can always enable the account in a desktop email client like Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird or some other.  Or you could set the account up to auto-forward to some other, non-Comcast, email account you might have with Yahoo, Outlook.com, Gmail or something like that.  You have options.
