LAN machines and DNS

I just signed up after using FiOS for a while. My LAN is a bunch of Linux, Mac and Windows machines that were, up until 3 hours ago, using the FiOS router for DNS. But apparently the Xfinity router does not have DNS?

What do people use for a name service on their local LAN?

Re: LAN machines and DNS

To answer my own question: The best I could do is configure each client to use the router as DNS. Then I can access each machine from one another by name. Although only through an xxxx.nj.comcast.net domain name which is unfortunate. I suspect an alternative would be to buy another router and put it in front of the Xfinity router set to "Bridged Mode".
