Intermittent Connectivity Issues - Multiple Support Calls and Two Tech Visits

I suddenly started having intermittent connection issues a few weeks ago. After the issues didn't go away, I attempted to work with Comcast phone support numerous times to troubleshoot; two technicians have also been out to the house.


Symptoms: Slow to load websites; significant lag during online gaming, to the point that it becomes unplayable; lagging/buffering during video streaming from Amazon and Netflix. These issues occur randomly during all hours of the day...doesn't appear to be a pattern. Online speed tests will show high D/L and U/L speeds even when the problem is occurring. However, I will also get poor D/L and U/L speeds when running the test. For instance, an hour ago, I was at about 120 Mbps D/L and around 12 Mpbs U/L. Now I'm at 21.3 Mbps D/L and 0.28 Mbps U/L.

 

To help rule out the SB6141 modem I had as being the issue, I replaced it with a new SB6183 modem a couple days ago. Still same issues occurring, so that leads me to believe the problem is likely not with the modem.

 

- The first couple of phone support people said my connections were good and advised me to replace my modem.

- The next phone support person I spoke with said he was seeing way too many T3 timeouts and said a technician should come to the house.

- One tech replaced a "booster" (Can't remember the correct device name) that was feeding the rest of the coax lines in my house. Other than that, he said everything seemed fine.

- The second tech said the booster was likely causing problems because the signal without the booster was great, so he removed it. He also dropped a new orange line from the pole, which is now sitting in my yard waiting to be buried. He also mentioned that someone on my street seemed to be generating a lot of signal noise on the line.

 

The problem has not been resolved at this point. Any ideas on how I can get this fixed?

This sounds like the problems are outside of your control. We'll get a corporate employee to take a look at the status of your repairs.

 

FYI: They owe you a $20 credit for every tech visit after the first for the same problem.You can also get a credit for your service from the time you first reported the issue until it is resolved.
