Fake e-mail

I get fake e-mails with attachments and or links claiming to be from people I know, but they are not sending them. Where could they be originating from?

I have not opened any of them yet but I fear I will make a mistake one day and pick up some kind of virus.

Re: Fake e-mail

What is likely happening is that their email addresses are being "spoofed".  Spammers can make it look like an email came from a particular person when in fact it did not.  Very common issue with any email.  Nothing you can do but ignore them until they go away.  This should be of interest------------------------
