I got an email saying they increased the download speed on our account to 150. Speed test shows 38. I unplugged the modem; plugged it back in, no change. I got on Xfinity chat and 40 minutes later was told everything looked fine on their end and I would need to contact the modem manufacturer since I wasn't renting.
I've looked in these forums and it seems this modem should deliver 150 down. So what could the problem be?

I'm going to try escalating your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. You should get a reply here in your topic.
