Can I actually permanently delete emails using Apple Mail?

I have my email accounts set on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac.  When I try to delete/purge selected emails from any one of these devices, it somehow does NOT go to the Xfinity/Comcast server and delete them... they reappear within minutes on the device used (like iPad) and NEVER disappear on my other devices.  It is TEDIOUS to say the least... to have to use a browser, log in to my xfinity/comcast account and try to delete emails.  Are there any instructions on how to set up apple mail so that I can just permanently delete the specific emails while reading them on the fly on any of my devices?

I think millions of Apple mail users would like to know how to do this.

Are you sure you have the account enabled on all three devices using IMAP?  If so they should all reflect anything you do to an email on any one of them.
