Cable and WiFi modem

So I’ve call Comcast and asked them what’s the best cable& WiFi modem for there services they told me the arrirs tg862g but can’t find any new. Wondering what’s the best out there that will work for there service and won’t break the bank. I have extreme internet for Comcast. Thanks

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

Do you want to rent from them or own your own equipment ? Do you have and wish to keep using their phone service ?

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

O/k so you don't need an 862 if you don't have phone service. "Extreme" speeds can be 150 to 300 depending on the local area. Extreme Pro is 400. Which speed do you pay for ?

Look here for an idea about retail available devices;

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

I believe it’s 150 but seen that it could be 250 as well so not totally sure.

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

Then I would suggest that you get a device that is capable of delivering the higher of speeds that you mentioned.

See if it tells you your corresponding speeds here (scroll down a bit on the right side);

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

Internet 5 Download speeds up to 250 Mbps. That’s what I came up with when I looked. If you had to choose is there one that you say is better then the others.

Re: Cable and WiFi modem

I would get a separate modem and router. The Arris SB6183 is a tried and true performer !

Here is an excellent site for researching routers;
