we have triple play cable/internet/voice. We use the phone line for my wifes business as a fax number. She recently complained she she hasen't been getting any faxes for a week now so I started looking into it this weekend. Got someone else to fax me and could see the light on the machine come on then nothing and was told fax couldn't be rec'd. So I called that no. and got a google voice answering it. I went online to look my acct. and somehow someone had gone in and set up call forwarding with the no. 320-356-0290 and if you google that no. it's a telemarketer. How does that happen? and is xfinity that easy to hack? and I've been on hold waiting to talk to security for 30 minutes now. changed acct. password and suspended call forwarding.
Same exact thing happened to me last week. Called Comcast Security (62 minute hold!), changed user name, password, security questions, cancelled the Voice2Go feature ( which was what someone got access to without my permission), blocked caller ID. I did everythng Comcast told me to do. Checked this morning and someone is stll makng calls on my phone to this number (320)356-0290.
I am baffled how after doing all of this someone still has unauthorized access to my phone and is making calls. Comcast said I now need to change my telephone number which I really prefer not to do.
Anyone else have this happen and were you sucessful in fixng the problem?
So glad to know that I'm not alone! I have been struggling with this issue for over a year. Our home phone will ring half a ring and then go to God knows where. I was told the same thing, that it must be a Google Voice account set up or something. I don't use Google Voice. Called back to Comcast today and was told that there was some call forwarding feature turned on. No one in my house would have set that up. I'm online in my account now attempting to remove this (320) 356-0290 phone number. Hopefully this will resolve the issue!
And.... IT WORKS! I can call my own home phone number and it actually goes to MY voice mail now! Right as I was doing this, a Comcast specialist called me and was going to lead me through the exact steps I had just done minutes before. He also suggested changing my online account password, which I just did. Whew!
