How does one go about using Amazon Dot/Alexa to control Xfinity Voice? "Alexa, answer Phone." Alexa, make phonecall to __________." "Alexa, play voicemail." Using the Dot as a speakerphone?
At the current time, you cannot use an ALEXA/DOT as the interface isn't available to do this.
Thank you, geek47,
I was afraid of that. I'll need do do some more research; It appears Amazon already offers some (maybe limited) telephone service using Alexia. Enables VoIP to domestic phone numbers and to other Alexa devices. Pretty slick! May let me drop Xfinity voice phone service altogether. Though Alexa does not seem to be a perfect solution; integration with the landline/cell service is somewhat awkward. Voicemail, caller ID, etc. is impossible or awkward. And, security is always an issue with the way Amizon has implemented their voice recognition.
Still, seems like it could be very convienent. [In particular, I'm thinking of using this to help an elderly lady in assisted living. She has limited mobility and a real aversion to "tech gadgets." Being able to simply talk to get phone calls, plus other automation tasks, seems like a natural solution.]
