reply to sender says ...

What does it mean when I get this message:  Message could not be sent to the following recipients: [Fred Yates <fredyates68@gmail.com>] (550 - 550 5.1.0 Authentication required
)

How do I authenticate????

This just happened this evening.  I've had no problem in years or ever.

550 series errors usually indicate something is wrong with the recipient's email address.  Are you sure it's still valid?

Yes the email is still valid.  I was replying to the sender!  I just sent that person and email from my yahoo account.  That went thru.

Also that sender and I have been communicating quite regularly.

I tried to REPLY to another email and received the same message.

So this has nothing to do with having an incorrect email address.

Re: reply to sender says ...

I'm having the same issue tonight.

I can't get e-mails to send.

I get this error message:

Message could not be sent to the following recipients: [e-mail address removed] (550 - 550 5.1.0 Authentication required
)

I am using Xfinity on MacBook on Safari. I can use the app and send from my phone just fine.

Re: reply to sender says ...

It is working okay now.  I was able to reply and it sent.

I'm not computer literate and I don't know what webmail is.   I have not a clue if I'm using webmail or not.

Webmail is what you see if you sign into your account using only a browser instead of a desktop email client or email app.  It will look something like this------------------
