Sending Apple Mail on Windows 10 PC Blocked By Comcast Xfinity

Environment:

Windows 10

Outlook 2016

When connected to comcast network using my .me (apple) mail account:

Can receive apple mail (myname@me.com and myname@icloud.com) from IMAP

Cannot send apple mail using Apples SMPT server.

I can both receive and send using another mail account with no problems.

Test:

using iphone not connected to comcast wifi just using AT&T signal both receive and send works.

however, when I connect to comcast wifi I can only receive mail

I hve deleted the apple mail account and reconvierued it with porpper IMAP and SMTP server names, ports, user name and password.

Please help.

Re: Sending Apple Mail on Windows 10 PC Blocked By Comcast Xfinity

This is how I have the servers setup:

Mail server settings
  • Server name: imap.mail.me.com.
  • SSL Required: Yes. If you see an error message when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
  • Port: 993.
  • Username: myname@icloud.com
  • Password: Generate an app-specific password.

SMTP information for the outgoing mail server
  • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com.
  • SSL Required: Yes. ...
  • Port: 587.
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes.
  • Username: same as the user name above
  • Same as the password above

Re: Sending Apple Mail on Windows 10 PC Blocked By Comcast Xfinity

ok I fixed the issue.

If you are using icloud with Windows 10 and Outlook you have to setup an "App-Specific password" with Apple.

Once you select and copy the password into the account setting in Outlook and use that as your passwrd.
