Email sometimes goes from main Xfinity Acct instead of one I'm using

When we signed up for Xfinity, we were required to set up a main acct, then family members set up their own. On my laptop, this main acct is listed along with a couple of others. I'm mystified cos on a few occasions recently, when in my personal email, I sent emails from that acct, but the replies came into the main account. Is there any reason for this, other than my error, in thinking i was in my personal acct, but somehow I wasn't? Is there something about the main Xfinity acct that makes it the go-to account in certain situations? 
I'm using Outlook.
