I’m trying to add a Comcast email to another Comcast email account. I can do it using IMAP but it wont let me use POP.
I click on “Add Mail Account”, then “Manual”, in “Incoming Server” “Server Type” it wont let me change it to POP. Did Comcast stop supporting POP?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Using POP to retrieve e-mail will cause a less-than-optimal experience, especially when you use multiple devices to check your email. We strongly recommend IMAP over POP since this will keep your emails in sync across different devices. If you do need to use POP due to any reason, you can use the following connection information:
Incoming Mail Server - Name: pop3.comcast.net
Incoming Mail Server - Port Number: 995 (POP3 With SSL) or 110 (POP3 Without SSL)
Outgoing Mail Server – Name: smtp.comcast.net
Outgoing Mail Server - Port Number: 587 (SMTP) or 465 (SMTPS)"
I tried this and it doesn't work. I'm guessing Comcast isnt supporting POP anymore??
What client are you using to get your email that you are trying to configure?
I think they are trying to set the account up under "Add Mail account" in the folder pane of a Comcast account. AFAIK it doesn't support the use of POP3, only IMAP. Is that correct?
