XFINITY Home Launches New Touchscreen Controller User Interface

Effective January 9th 2016, XFINITY Home will deploy a new user interface in all regions to the following devices:

  • Existing TCA203 Touchscreen Controllers over the course of the next two months
  • All newly-installed TCA203 and XH1-TC Touchscreen Controllers

The new user interface has a number of key features, including:

  • A single app experience (no launch required to view or interact with devices)
  • Improved alert and trouble help messaging
  • More intuitive arming error messaging
  • Improved screensaver experience
  • Integrated weather experience (instead of a separate weather app)
  • Guided walkthrough
  • Persistent unresolved trouble list

There are a number of other changes from the old Touchscreen Controller user interface, including:

  • Some apps have been removed, including Sports, Help, Sudoku, Weather, Clock, Word of the Day, News and Calculator.
  • Fire Panic and Medical Panic have both been removed, but Police Panic remains.
  • In case of fire or medical emergency, it is better to dial 911 directly, as they can Geolocate, respond real-time and assist with active events.

Hey Comcast, will there be any updates to the touchscreen controller that will actually incorporate useful apps? I agree, some of the past apps were pointless, but are there plans to add some apps that could be functional? A calendar that links with your Google calendar would be nice. An app that pulls in a reputable news feed, such as CNN. The weather app is great and thta should remain. It would be nice if this bulky touchscreen on my kitchen counter could serve as a a little bit more of an information center too.

It would be nice to see what the unit it self looks like.  What is with the black?

Touch screen does not have sound coming from system.  I was informed by comcast technician that a firmware was installed and then removed which disabled the speaker (it chirps low like a baby bird).  In a two story home, this is not an effective alarm for security.  WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THE SYSTEM OR EVEN NOTIFY CUSTOMERS?  Had a technican work on system for three hours on one day and returned the next morning.  Now I have a system that only chirps and is not effective at all.  Repair / replace or refund!

Re: XFINITY Home Launches New Touchscreen Controller User Interface

I wish that the Touchscreen had the option to default view to multiple cameras on the main screen.  Currently there is only one camera view on the main touchscreen and it is not user-friendly to "swipe" to the other camera's, when all the homeowner would need have to do is "glance" at the screen and see multiple views.  LIKE the previous version which had a multiple camera view as the default screen...

It does not help. Even when a sound control at the maximum, it produce sound that is hardly noticable.

Did you try a reboot of the touchscreen?

Re: XFINITY Home Launches New Touchscreen Controller User Interface

We recently rolled out an update to customers who have our newer model of Touchscreen (without the physical volume buttons on the side) which should help with volume control.  If you don't have the update yet, you will soon!

To increase the volume, click on the "More" icon in the upper-right corner of the display (looks like three dots) and choose Display & Volume.  Click on the Volume option and then move the slider bar on the next screen all the way to the right.

I have this model of Touchscreen and this feature made my volume significantly louder - I'm hoping it does the same for you!  Let us know how it works out...

I still have the old interface on my touchscreen, how do I get updated to this new interface?
