t1682g Did not work with Xfinity

I have xfinity X1 and got an used modem ARRIS T1682G to save some on the bill. Unfortuntely they said it din't work with their service, even though I see others using it with no problem. These are sold everywhere and now it does not work with mine. Why? Is it something that needs to be done, like a firmware upgrade or something? Anyone who could help, please....

Are you replacing another modem? If so you can just physically swap the modems, then start everything up.Then open any web browser. This should take you to the activation page.

Comcast doesn't allow customer owned TG1682G gateways. It's not listed on the "Compatible retail equipment" page at https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/, and is marked "Retail: No" on the TG1682G page at http://mydeviceinfo.g.comcast.net/device.php?devid=438.
