charged for returned equipment

I returned a moden on April 29th 2019. was told it was not returned on two seperate occations. Had to show reciept twice and was told it would be removed from my account. Comcast then started charging me in July2019 thru May 2020 for rental on the modem ($133.00) I have spent hours on the phone as well as a trip to an Xfinity store and all I received was an email telling me to return the equipment! I do have the original return receipt. How does one get this resolved?
