I have received numerous emails from Comcast stating that I need to confirm my email account because Comcast is updating its service. I have done what has been asked but continue to get the same email. After a period of time, I get text messages with a code--for no apparant reason. What is happening?
Such emails are almost always phishing emails, scammer attempts to steal login and account information. If you check your email with Comcast's Xfinity Connect webmail, look for the XFINITY Verified Email logo next to any message that claims to be from Comcast/Xfinity (see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email).
Samples of recent phishing messages can be found at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts/ under "Top Phishing Scams".
If you entered your password or the answer to your Secret Question in response to any of these, you should change it. And if you gave any other personal information (credit card info, user IDs, address, DOB, SSN, phone, etc.) you should probably consider it compromised and seek assistance.
If you want to report the message, follow the "Report Spam and Phishing Emails" link on https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/ and scroll down to the "Report Phishing Emails" section.
