Returned equipment charge hit first bill...

I opted to use Xfinity's modem/router when I signed up, but since got my own modem a few days later.

 

I returned the modem to the Xfinity store in my area the same day I had my service installed, and was assured I would not be charged more than 1 day at a "pro-rated" rate of the $14 monthly.

 

I see my first bill shows the full charge of $14, and trying to get it removed or the "pro-rated" rate I was told it would be.

 

Help.
