I recently upgraded my TV box from the non DVR to a DVR version. The remote which came with it is not a voice activated one, which I had previously. One of your CSR's told me that once installed(by me), she could pair my old remote with my new Xfinity dvr. I installed it, and called. This CSR told me that no, it could not be poaired and he would need to send me a new one. He asked for the serial number of the DVR and sent out the new remote. Unfortunately, it arrived today and is an identical one to the one I am trying to replace, and obviously does not have the voice activation feature.

If you still have the voice remote, you can use it with the DVR, it just needs paired to the new box
