How do I add a DVR to my plan?

I just got internet and cable last week. I have a tv box and motem. They said I have 30 days to adjust my plan or add devices but I'm not finding anything to add a dvr. I don't need to add tv boxes to my other tv, I just want a dvr. How do I add that? Thanks.
