Fake calls from Comcast?

There are a number of postings on the forum about repeated calls from 800-266-2278, with Comcast clearly listed in the Caller ID.  Comcast representatives' answers have always been to have "your number placed on the Do Not Call" list.  However, I do not believe these are really coming from Comcast.  In my experience, about half the time there is no person on the other end.  Other times, the person can barely speak English or the connection is so poor the person's voice is barely audible.  I believe these are computer generated calls that send out a false Caller ID, a scam known as Caller ID Spoofing. 

My question is:  can Comcast do anything to prevent this spoofing?

Caller ID spoofing is a big problem for just about everyone. Fixes are in the works.

I got a call from 404-722-2012 someone wanting to get me a better package with comcast, and the main sell was the home phone and one touch police calling....it was obvious he was on a cell phone , just another person trying to scam, please do something about this before some older person is scammed and their credit stolen!

We are repeatedly getting calls from 800.934.6489. Nearly all the time it's dead air. Sometimes a male voice with heavy accent that is impossible to understand says a few words and uses my first name. I believe this is Caller ID Spoofing. I've reported it to Comcast in Chat, but I must say that the CSR didn't impress me as someone who would actually create a report on it. He did tell me that if Comcast needed to communicate with me about something they would send an email, not make a phone call. I've also reported this to the FCC (online complaint forms available). Some of the forums concern problems like this but non until this one brought up Call ID Spoofing. Why in the world don't we get an official Comcast statement about this problem? Such as, they know it is occurring, here are the numbers that may show on your Caller ID, here's how to tell it is NOT us calling you, etc. I really feel UNSUPPORTED by Comcast on this matter.
