Electric power surge

Electric power surge

My Xfinity box was replaced on Sunday due to power surge(s).  The technician recommended to plug the box power cord into the power strip and not into the house wall outlet.  His comment was contrary to a comment by an earlier technician.  Where should the power cord be pugged into??

needy604685 -- It's perfectly fine to plug the power cord into a surge protector.
