Ebay Scam

I got a call from a Comcast number about a promotion to lower my monthly bill, all I had to do was get an Ebay gift card andI would lower my bill for two years. I thought it was a scam so I called the number and asked for a supervisor and the supervisor reassured me that it was not a scam, I went out and got a $180.00 gift card and called them back with the information to the same comcast number they called me from.  Last week I get a call from Xfinity that I need to pay my bill and I explain to them what happened and all they could say was that it was a scam and alot of people got scammed and they are looking for the people and 'they can't help us that were scammed out of our money.  I feel that Comcast Xfinity has let us down as consumers, we should have been notified about the scam because obviously they knew about it since I was not the first or the last person this has happened to.  I want to know what Comcast Xfinity is going to do for us consumers who has been effected by this scam and I do not want to here how sorry you are, because you are not sorry as long as you get your money and we  are out of money because of this pandemic.  I am leaving this selfish company because you do not care about your customers.

Re: Ebay Scam

Sorry to hear this happened to you, but the same thing could be said about the IRS scams, or scams from your local utility company. The caller ID was likely spoofed and if you call back to the spoofed number, you still aren't talking to Comcast. This happened to multiple folks on the forums

and has been reported on the media.

We provide lots of resources around this as well as the occasional email campaign:

Understandably you'd be looking for someone to blame however Comcast is not to blame, you are not to blame, only the scammers who were convincing and took advantage of your trust (as is the nature of phishing) are to be blamed.

If you feel you've had your identity or credentials stolen or if  you've provided them any PII, I advise you follow the FTC's guide: https://www.identitytheft.gov/steps

If you feel your account has been compromised, you can contact CSA as well.

The Customer Security Assurance organization has been established to ensure a safe and secure online experience for Comcast customers. This team is a dedicated group of security professionals who respond to issues pertaining to phishing, spam, infected computers (commonly referred to as bots), online fraud and other security issues.
