Contract and Data cap issues

Recently I joined xfinity as a ISP for the reason of NO DATA CAPS and NO CONTRACT. During my first month of service I recieved an email saying I used 100% of my alloted data space. Confused I contacted Xfinity and I was told that I have a 1TB data cap on my account. Next they informed me I can remove the data cap but it will cost me an additional $50/month because I am using my own modem. The agent said if I was renting their modem for $10/month then they can offer me no data cap for additional $15/month. Feeling cheated and lied too I told the agent that they are forcing me to pay for additional items I dont need. I mentioned to the agent that if we cant resolve this issue I have to look for another provider like Spectrum/ Cox. That is when the agent informed me that I was locked in to a 1 year contract and if I terminate the contract its $110. Looking through the forum I see that im not the only person being mislead.
