Cancel tv keep internet

Hello, I had a service appointment yesterday and the tech determined that my coax cable outlet in bedroom is disconnected (cut) within the wall. He is not able to activate service in the bedroom. I would like to cancel my cable tv service and keep Internet only. I currently have Blast Pro. Is this the fastest level of service available to my residence? Since my service is brand new, I would like to cancel XFINITY tv service, return the equipment, but keep Internet and know fastest speed possible. I work from home and want to switch to all streaming services for my tv. Thank you.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

Hello,

I'd also like to cancel my TV and keep the internet only.  I do not want to go through the customer service over the phone.

What are my options?  Any promotions?

Thanks.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

Hello Jacksonsk90,

After review,  if you were to downgrade your services to the internet only package, you will have to pay the standard rate of service. The standard rate for the Performance Internet only package is $76.95. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

I have had this same issue several times. I do need internet and need to cut cable out, but everytime I call... I get 3 different stories and never any help. I don't understand why it is so difficult for someone to carry out a simple request without making it a 2 hour ordeal.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

The issue is that they are not trained correctly with serving customers and most don't care. They bet that you'll get frustrated and just continue paying for service that you don't need. Comcast/Xfinity whatever they call themselves is a horrible company. I'm looking to get rid of them as well. There are much better and cheaper services out there.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

I have Dish here installing right now. After having a triple play for a few years, with spotty phone service, I went with Vonage last year. But after a few months of lower Comcast bills, it began "creeping" up from $164 to $204. Then at 5pm on Super Bowl Sunday, everything went out for 8+hours. While it was a fire, out of their control, my little city was fuming. I called on Mon, to go over my bill with a retention specialist. I told him at the start of the phone call that I was annoyed with Comcast, but knew that he didn't cause my problems. After reviewing the increases, he said I qualified for a Triple Play, with free HBO for $119. I told him, great, but I don't want/need the phone. He insisted (granted Comcast "policy") that I had to have a phone modem. I own my own modem, that works fine, though with 2 boosters around my house(!) and don't want to buy a new one and really dont want to "rent" one from Comcast. He said he couldn't bill me the Triple Play without it. He said he would put me on hold to "check into it". He seemed to have not hit the hold button, because I then heard him say, "this lady is being a pain and I can't deal with it". When he returned, I asked for a supervisor. She apologized for his comments, but also tried to convince me of renting a modem. My plan as of today, is to keep the internet, though Dish does offer an option for that too, if Comcast continues with this level of customer service. I'm very curious to see if there will be any special offers for an internet only package. I have had Comcast (and it's predecessors) for literally decades, adding internet as it became available, so this step hasn't been taken lightly.

Same question here. I like my comcast internet but never watch the TV and don't use the home phone.  I'd like to return my DVR and cable modem (bought my own) and keep internet.   What is the easiest path to make this happen without hassle?

Re: Cancel tv keep internet - Can you help me again - The Good Customer Loyalty Penalty has struck!!

Hello, it's me again, the original poster of this thread. Lol. I received the best service here when I first signed up, so I thought I'd come back with a new request for assistance.

So, it's now 12 months later and yep, you guessed it.... blammo! I just got hit with the infomous good customer loyalty penalty in the form of losing all those happy happy new customer discounts.

Before I churn on out to find a different provider, so I can get that "new customer smell" back again, I was wondering what options you might have to make the cost seem more attractive again. I just need enough so that I can feel good about staying.

In any case, the Performance Plus + Extreme 250 plan was $79.99. I like that number. Now it has gone up to $121.93. I've been a great customer, always made my payments on time, always said good things about my service and Infinity and Comcast. So, is there a path back closer to $79.99 without having to play the cancel and switch providers ever year game? I think I've never gone over 400 GB of usage in a month and I'm allowed 1 TB. Can I sign another 12 month contract to get the discoiunts. I don't have a problem with that.

I know everyone feels the same way that this is a very back-handed customer unfriendly way of doing business to "pretend" that there is this much higher "standard rate" and you were just lucky enough to get significant discounts for your first 12 months. Since I'm not obligated to stay with xfinity it can't be that you offer those initially reasonable and appropriate rates knowing that you'll just make it up in the next 12 months buy inflating the them. It almost begs constant customer turnover and churn. Is that good for business. Everything has been great, working from home, streaming tv, all my IOT gadgets work, no servivce interupptions... so, why ruin a good thing man, right? Are you with me on this? Lol.

So, if you could help out a good customer and give me some options that make more sense, I'd be happy to pay a little more and stay. But, I need to feel good about it. Ya know? Performance Plus + Extreme 250...$80...$90...$95..., I could live in that neighborhood and still help feed the poor and help the needy.

Can you help?

Thank you.

Best,

Re: Cancel tv keep internet - Can you help me again - The Good Customer Loyalty Penalty has struck!!

Hi @stephenrolah

Regarding your recent price increase:

We offer new customers an introductory rate for the first 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years depending upon the offer. After the introductory period offer expires, the price does go to what we call Everyday Price or regular rate. We have many satisfied customers paying the Everyday Price for our products and services.

If you would like, I can assist you with an account review to see if there are any offers available to better suit your needs. If you would like this, please send me a private message and include your full name, service address, and account number so I can access your account.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet - Can you help me again - The Good Customer Loyalty Penalty has struck!!

This a good thread...  I have been a Comcast customer for many years.  However, it has been a love/hate relationship. In general, the internet/cable service has been good.  But, for starters, I hate the bait and switch tactic of teaser rates for new customers for 6 months to a year, then increased monthly bills that escallate a few dollars/month over time.  Its like Comcast only cares about hooking new customers and could care less about longterm, regular customers.  This is a terrible way of doing business.  The incremental increases in the monthly bill is such that every 2 or 3 years, I have to call/complain and downgrade my package and/or get the rep to negotiate a new teaser-like deal.  I'm tired of doing the dance every 2 years or so.  Last time, I downgraded my cable package and now 2 years later the monthly bill is right back up where it was before.  I'm fed up....done.  I would like to cancel my cable TV and keep my internet.  How do I do that?  Please don't offer any teaser packages either...

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

Hello,

I tried to cancel tv and just keep internet yesterday. After 20 minutes of talk I didn't need nor barely understand due to speed of rep's speech, we got disconnected due to the internet being rebooted by comcast. I still have not seen the changes made.

It took another 20 minute phone call to get nowhere with your tech, who I think was stoned. It took him far too many trys to get my account number correct. Wow.

I just unplugged the modem and reconnected, and it worked.

The first rep introduced a package that could keep my tv for 5 bucks a month plus the internet. The cost was 94.00.

I think that's too high. So here's what I need: a complete disconnect of TV and I will keep my internet (150MB speed) for whatever price break you can provide.

Furthermore, your records indicate I am a relatively new customer (2015). I've been with you for over 30 years.

Please contact me ASAP to get this resolved.

Re: Cancel tv keep internet

Can someone tell me why all of the conversations go "private" when a Comcast person reaches out to help?  I get the feeling that each person is offered a different rate....I get it that different markets charge different rates for geographic location...but it would be great to see what some of these folks are being offered after dropping cable.  No transparency whatsoever.

The Comcast reps need customer information that obviously can't be posted in a public forum. It would be up to the customer to turn around and post any package information they received.
