We are on a promotional rate fora little longer.

We leave here for 6 or 7 months and put the service on vacation hold. Problem is when we come back we are a existing customer. Could I turn the service off and then get it when I come back and then be a new customer?

Do I have to take any exuipment somewhere or will it just stay here>

Hi pibkman43, you could return your equipment to a local Comcast store and cancel your services instead of a vacation hold.  How long are you usually on vacation hold?
