Will not let me downgrade package from TV/Internet to Internet only

I have just gotten a new job and because I will be traveling, I  won't be needing an extensive tv internet package. 

 

I would just like to downgrade just to the basic internet plan.

However, when calling customer service, they give me some line about being locked in at a promotional rate

and that I cannot get teh basic internet package. 
They actually will charge me more for just internet compared to my current tv/internet package. 

 

Why not just work with me and keep a customer happy?
