This morning, I got this SMS text on my (non-Xfinity mobile) number, the one I have always used for my Comcast/Xfinity accounts:

Followed 32 minutes later by this one:

I phoned Comcast's call center. For an hour, I was bounced back and forth between various departments. Each time I was told there was nothing I could do, because I didn't have an order number. Each time I explained that I just didn't want my number linked to someone else's account, because I didn't ever want to hear that I owed Comcast/Xfinity money for a bill linked to that phone number. I was told they could not remove my number from someone else's account without speaking to them. I asked that they simply try calling to number to see who answers, or sending a letter to the other account holder asking them to update their phone number. They said they could not do that. Eventually, they hung up on me.
Hi CtCarl -- The information you received is correct. We can get your phone number removed from the other account provided we can speak with that person. Once we're able to do that we'll get this corrected.
