We have recently noted that there is a regional sports fee on our bill. While other customers may be sports fans, no one in our household has any interest in sports, sports news, or care to watch any sports or related channels. It is not fair for Xfinity to charge our household because Xfinity is being charged for carrying these services. We already pay more for "packages" to watch the 10-12 channels we are interested in programming. Because our home gets no benefit from Xfinity carrying sports networks, this extra charge is unacceptable and must be refunded or Xfinity stop carrying these expensive networks. In fact we already overpay for our service since we have to buy "packages" with many channels just to watch a few we are interested in.
Unfortunately, the technology exists within the platform to provide a-la-carte channels so that customers like us do not have to subsidize other useless channels that Xfinity has made a business decision to carry, at a profit through "bundling" into packages. The right answer to this message is to provide a reasonable price for the services we use, and stop taxing us for sports fees when in over 10 years no occupant of the home has ever turned on a game, race, olympics etc.
Basically, if you've got TV, you're subject to the fee, whether you watch sports or not.
