Received X1 package today - Why?

I received a X1 TV receiver in the mail to day but I am not sure why.

I don't really use the TV portion of my service, I mostly use my nVidia Shield for Netflix, Amazon Video, Plex, etc.

Do I NEED to setup the X1?  And what does it offer than my current box doesn't?

Also afraid that Comcast will change my service or charge me more if I set it up.

dseg42, I can look into the X1 box that was sent to you.

The X1 is an entertainment platform that is a better way of utilizing your cable service. If you were shipped an X1 box you didn't request, there may be a code on your account that was added that triggered that. I'll check and fix. Please send me a private message (Click ComcastKenF and then click Private Message Me) with your phone number, account address, and full name for assistance.
